While supporting users who demand performance and reliability when creating videos, we've learned a number of surprising things about USB drives on the market today. Truthfully we only set out to identify what were some solid drives on the market today and after reviewing many name brands like Sandisk, Lexar, and Kingston and more, we couldn't find a single drive to point our customers to that could withstand a range of issues in terms of data transfer and storage.

That led us down a substantial rabbit hole of research on the components used to create USB drives, their transfer speed and reliability, plus mechanical construction. Ultimately we identified what components and construction worked best and we found a manufacturer that could build to our specifications with the proven reliability we needed.

While most of the key performance aspects of this drive are sealed inside, a number of features that users will appreciate include:
  1. Both USB-A and USB-C ends for compatibility across many devices generations of computers.
  2. Sustained high data read and write speeds to meet video recording equipment requirements. Many brands advertise peak data transfer rates way larger than what they can sustain.
  3. Durable solid metal body.
  4. Rotating solid metal outer body with detents for both the USB-A and USB-C ends
  5. DOES NOT have an inline sliding action to extend/hide either of the USB connector ends. These can confuse users whether the connector is all the way into the port or whether the connector was pushed back into the thumb drive body. That common style WILL cause confusion and frustration.
  6. A keyring hole in the outer body (key ring not included).
  7. Significant size. 64GB stick holds about 30 hours of typical video recordings in our studios (depends on file size settings on recording hardware).
